Spicy Instant Ramen Upgraded(Quick & Flavorful Meal)
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably had your fair share of plain instant ramen. It’s quick, it’s easy, but after a while… it’s just boring.
I got sick of having the same old plain noodles, so I started experimenting with ways to liven them up. I wanted something that was still fast but had way more flavor — and a little spice. After playing around in the kitchen, I came up with this Spicy Upgraded Instant Ramen recipe, and now my whole family loves it.
The best part? It uses ingredients I usually already have around the house. If you’ve got ramen, an egg, and a few pantry staples like gochujang and chives, you’re already halfway there.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
This upgraded ramen is for anyone who’s:
- Tired of plain, flavorless noodles
- Looking for an easy way to bring some restaurant-style taste into their kitchen
- A fan of bold, slightly spicy flavors
- Wanting a comforting, cozy meal made in under 10 minutes
It’s rich, savory, and a little spicy thanks to the gochujang — a Korean chili paste that adds a deep umami kick without overwhelming heat. Plus, the egg yolk adds a creamy texture that makes every bite feel special.
This recipe proves that simple ingredients can create incredible comfort food.

Method
- Start with two cups of water in a small saucepan and bring it to a boil.
- Once the water’s boiling, add 1 tablespoon of gochujang. This paste is what gives the broth that rich red color and amazing depth of flavor.
- Use a whisk or spoon to blend the gochujang fully into the water. It should dissolve evenly into the broth.
- Drop in your ramen block and let it cook for about two minutes, or according to the package directions.
- With about one minute left on the timer, crack one egg directly into the pot.
- Gently stir — but be careful not to break the yolk if you want that perfect soft center.
- Toss in the included spice packet (I used chicken flavor). Stir gently to mix.
- Let it cook for another minute until the noodles are tender and the egg is just set.
- Pour everything into a bowl. Sprinkle sesame seeds and top with chives.
- Then, the best part — break open that egg yolk and let it run through the noodles. Pure bliss.

Notes
Start with 1 teaspoon of gochujang if you’re new to it. Add more next time once you know your heat tolerance.
Don’t overcook the noodles:
They continue to soften after being removed from heat, so it’s better to pull them off just before fully done.
Make it extra rich:
Add a drizzle of sesame oil or a dash of soy sauce to deepen the flavor.
Add veggies:
Toss in some spinach, green onions, or frozen peas to boost nutrition and texture.
Want protein?
Add cooked chicken, tofu, or shrimp for a heartier meal.
❤️ Why This Recipe Works
Instant ramen is known for being cheap and fast — but not necessarily exciting. By adding just a few ingredients, you transform it into a comforting bowl that feels homemade and satisfying.
The gochujang gives it that punchy flavor, while the egg yolk brings richness. The chives and sesame seeds on top add texture and a bit of freshness. It’s truly the perfect balance between spicy, savory, and comforting.
This recipe hits that sweet spot where you can throw it together in minutes, yet it tastes like something you’d order at your favorite noodle bar.

A: Gochujang is a Korean red chili paste made from fermented soybeans, glutinous rice, and chili powder. It adds spice, sweetness, and depth to dishes.
